Dear Colleagues-
I am just back from a hectic and informative time in Brazil where I was privileged to take part in asbestos meetings and activities in 3 states (see Brazilian Ban Asbestos Mobilization; http://ibasecretariat.org/lka_braz_ban_asb_mobil_09.php ).
During my time in Brazil, we celebrated the 10th anniversary of IBAS with colleagues from ABREA, the Brazilian Association of the Asbestos-Injured (see: Happy Birthday IBAS, http://ibasecretariat.org/lka_happy_birthday_ibas.php ). Since the very first days of IBAS we have worked closely with this group of former asbestos-cement workers from the Eternit Osasco factory. Throughout this time, ABREA has grown and the organization now represents many asbestos-injured workers throughout the country.
I am delighted to inform you that the new IBAS monograph: Report on the Asian Asbestos Conference 2009 is now available online: http://ibasecretariat.org/hk_report_web_fin.pdf
Copies of this report have been shipped to colleagues around the world and the report will be officially launched in December by colleagues at high-profile meetings in India, Thailand and Brazil.
Dave & I are off for a holiday in Australia later this week; I will be back in touch after Christmas.
Best regards to all,
Laurie
